Hiya, I’m Dani…
I’m a graphic designer based in Tauranga, New Zealand, with a passion for photography, branding, and storytelling through design. My work spans across print, digital, and spatial mediums, including social media content, advertising collateral, exhibitions and displays, product and portrait photography, and brand identity development.
I’m fascinated by history and have discovered a deep passion for historical design research and exhibition creation. I’m driven to explore how design can preserve memories, share overlooked stories, and connect people to the past in meaningful, visual ways.
Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, and Photoshop as well as Slack and Figma. I love bringing ideas to life through thoughtful and collaborative design.
How did I come up with the name The Aravina Effect?
My biggest inspiration is my Opa, whose creativity in photography, design, and sculpture inspired me from a young age. His creativity and dedication continue to motivate me and shape the kind of designer I aspire to be.
When I created my personal brand, I knew I wanted it to honour my Opa. After trying different names without success, a conversation with my dad led me to Opa’s guardian angel, Aravina. My family has always felt her presence, especially since Opa passed. The Aravina Effect became the perfect way to carry his legacy forward and share the creativity he passed down to me..
Photography
I’ve been passionate about photography from a young age, inspired by my Opa who introduced me to the craft and eventually passed his gear down to me. Portrait photography has always been my favourite for the emotion it captures, but I’ve recently developed a real love for product photography too. I enjoy experimenting with colour and black-and-white imagery, and I’m excited to keep growing my skills and one day take my photography to a professional level.
